Who is Tilly Squirrel?

Tilly Squirrel is the sage of Tillyville, an unassuming philosopher king who loves baseball, golf, and adventure. He ponders things cosmic and minute.  He asks the big questions and the little ones, too. He enjoys life.

His closest friends are Skinny McKinney, who is rather impulsive, and Chocolate Rat, who is rather obsessive, and he simply dotes on the musical Geneva Owl.

What will Tilly Squirrel do for me?

Besides making you chuckle, he’ll make you more appreciative of a well turned-out sentence, and (this is the part the parents will love) he’ll probably expand your vocabulary. From time to time he’ll help you to understand how the world works. If you give him the chance, he’ll be an excellent friend.

Why do Tilly stories end the way they do?

That’s a good question.  Maybe the world needs more Socratic Squirrels.

Is Tilly Squirrel a person, an animal, or what?

Yes. Definitely.

What is a Hm?

It is a mysterious object that fell from outer space.  It gets passed from earthling to earthling and every week makes strange things happen.

But why is it called a Hm?

Because that's what everyone says when they see it: Hmmm?  So that must be its name, right?

What's up with Dorian's attitude?

I don't know.  He's in middle school!  It's not his fault nobody understands him.

Is he angry because he's in a wheelchair?  Is that it?

No!  Yes!

Why is he in a wheelchair, anyway?

He doesn't tell just anyone, you know, only his friends. When Dorian gets to know you, I’m sure he’ll tell you.

Does Dorian have a crush on Justice?

Gross.

What's going on with the Sunday Stories?  Couldn't you think of another series for that day?

You are probably right!  We may get new series here at Tillyville.  Until then, Sunday Stories are like a box of chocolates ...

I have a great idea for a story for a new series for Sundays.  Can I send it?

Sure!  We love getting your e-mail and ideas!

Who are you guys?

WalterWalter’s been telling Tilly stories for a long, long time.  He told them to his four little brothers, and he told them to his two kids, and now he’s telling them to you. Welcome to the family!  You can call him Walter, or you can call him Walt, or you can even call him Uncle Walrus—just don’t call him Wally!

JohnJohn is our superman. He can do anything with plain old words. He’s like that guy at the picnic who could make animals out of ordinary balloons. Twist, twist, twist, and he could make a pony so real you could almost ride it. And then he would smile at you and do something extra, something simple, something miraculous, and you could ride it!  Whee!  Hey, just be careful you don’t pop the pony!

Here’s a photo of John flying.  I wonder who took the picture. Probably some balloon animal.

DaveDave Dziedzic has been illustrating his own stories since age four, when his parents sat him down at a table with crayons and paper. He quickly graduated to colored pencils and finger paint, and by age eight was experimenting with water-color. Dave spent most of his youth leisure time drawing and painting and writing short stories. In school, not a single margin of his assignments escaped doodling, and his notebooks contained lavish illustrations anywhere there was a blank space.

LeilaRemember that pretty teacher you had back in pre-school, the one with long blond hair and friendly blue eyes and a smiling voice and graceful hands that could show you how to do anything? That’s Leila.  She even knew how to fling a Frisbee. Here’s a picture I drew of her. Oh, Leila! How come you couldn’t teach me to draw?
